Decision Making - who is in your huddle?

When you’re faced with a major decision—whether it’s a strategic pivot at work or a big shift in life—who do you look to?

Do you seek out a mentor, rely on a trusted peer network, or huddle with your inner circle to stress-test your options?

This has been on my mind over the past few days for a number of reasons. Sadly my beloved stepdad passed away on 31st May - and he was my go to when I needed guidance to help me make a significant decision. He was always there with sage advice on work, jobs, life, kitchen or bathroom designs - everything? Given that I am right in the midst of a major decision I was minded to share some of Ken's great guidance.

Trust the System, but Empower the Individual - A solid game plan gives you structure, but when the breakdown happens, you have to trust the person on the ground to make the call.

Decisiveness Beats Perfection - A good decision made with 80% certainty at pace is almost always better than a perfect decision made too late. You have to commit, execute, and adjust on the hoof.

No One Wins Alone - When the pressure is on, you don't look for a solo hero. You look for alignment. The best decisions are the ones where the team knows exactly who has their back.

Always spend as much money as you can afford when remodelling a kitchen or bathroom - these are rooms you are guaranteed to use daily so don't have any regrets!
